Just a note about unexpected program shut downs
In the past we've had unexpected events (such as power failures, snow storms) which have necessitated a shut down of our After School Program. We do not take shutting the program down for the day lightly and do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience unexpected closures may cause.
The whole process of contacting parents/emergency contacts usually goes fairly smoothly but we do have the odd issue:
1) Please ensure that you have at least one emergency contact listed on your registration forms and that they are aware that their name has been given to us and that they are OK with this. We have called people who were not aware of this and refused to come and pick up the child.
2) Please ensure that if you don't have an emergency contact listed that you will be able to come pick up your child on short notice in case of closures.
3) Please ensure that all of your contact information is up to date.
4) Please realize that we do not make the decision to shut the program down lightly. If we need to close please take it seriously. If you are called to come get your child you MUST do so in a timely manner (within an hour if possible). Please be patient with our program staff. If you have comments they can be directed to us at aves_asa@hotmail.com.
5) Persons have arrived to pick up the a child who were not listed as authorized to do so. If you are sending someone who is not one of your authorized pick up persons, please notify the program staff with a phone call prior to that person's arrival. We will not release children into their care otherwise.
